Re: The Epic of Dreams, Basilisk Edition
Hey Everyone!
This message aired on my Kickstarter update tab, but it also has information for us here too!
We’ll be catching up with our Dungeon23 articles and regularly scheduled manticore memes soon - we’ll probably have a double-d23 article week coming up this week or next.
Anyways…
This past month I made some mistakes and I wasn't able to complete my goals for The Epic of Dreams.
I wanted to have all the stretch goals in layout, ready to be printed, and to be able to show you all the PDFs right before we press the "LAUNCH" button.
I also wanted to put out a small zine Kickstarter offering for ZineQuest (BORK BORK), thinking that we were so close to the finish line, that I could have both projects ready to present by today.
Instead, there were a bunch of fires to put out along the way on both fronts, and in pursuing the completion of both, I couldn't do either.
So, I canceled that project until we finish this one well. I apologize for my lack of judgment.
My goal for this next month is to have everything for this Kickstarter ready to print for the end of March, so we can finally start this thing.
I may also be adding in one more illustration to The Epic of Dreams, and updating some of the language on the back flap text. If that happens, you'll know and have the PDF right away, just like with the stretch goal PDFs.
I will also be switching the content of the epic poem book; instead of elaborating on the introductory poem at the start of chapter 1, for this release, we're going to finish the first ever epic poem I wrote - it's called "Providence".
It's about a shipwrecked man on an abandoned island who gets struck by lightning, but when he does he discovers the storm that struck him is actually a mysterious land from which all the weather of the heavens descend.
I do plan on releasing the Jormin Northern Siege episode eventually, but we'll probably even make that another adventure unto itself and release game content for that too. The scope of what that story wanted required more time than I could give it and do well for this release.
So instead, we're going to finish this thing by really finishing this thing - I stopped writing the Providence poem during my stay in China, right when I began designing the Epic!
Right now, Providence has 3 Cantos, and I am planning on ending it with 7. It should be around 30-40 pages long, and at the moment is around 15 pages. I've got a bunch of notes kept over the years, as well as some fresh inspiration, and have most of the plot planned out using storytelling techniques found in The Epic of Dreams (!), and am confident we'll be able to tie a bow on everything in the coming weeks.
If you'd like to read the 3 original cantos of Providence, here they are!
Thanks for your patience as always, and as always, send me a message if you have any questions.
Much Love
Drew
